Uses
To use your AmeriCorps Education Award, you will first need to pay for your course fees up front and out of pocket. You will then use your AmeriCorps Education Award as a form of reimbursement, not as a direct payment to enroll.
You may use your AmeriCorps Education Award towards educational expenses; as long as the funds are used towards educational expenses (typically mandatory expenses) like application fees, books, mandatory software and/or mandatory supplies.
*We have to emphasize that it can only be used toward educational purposes with examples listed above (you may not use funds to purchase UCLA parking permits). Students will need to have proof of purchase readily accessible.
Requirement
At least one course in the quarter of enrollment must be unit bearing, you can request a supplemental non-credit course (courses number 700-999.99) as an educational expense if a fee to enroll in the course is required, such as a test prep course or one-day seminar/workshop. In other words, your interest may be in the one-day course, however you must enroll in another course that is unit bearing to be able to use your AmeriCorps Education Award for that quarter.
