All courses in the UCLA Extension Early Childhood Education Associate Teacher certificate program are open enrollment, meaning there are no prerequisites. However, a high-school degree or equivalent is highly recommended prior to enrolling in these courses.
Enrollment into the Associate Teacher Certificate Program requires assignments where students must observe or participate with young children. Students must be prepared to show proof of immunizations and a TB clearance in Early Childhood Education centers.
Professional-level English language proficiency in listening, note-taking, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and written expression is required. Students who lack these skills should consider taking English for International Students courses offered by the UCLA Extension American Language Center, before enrolling in this program.
