Some integrated course tools in Canvas, such as Course Syllabus, Zoom, and Videos (Panopto), require your browser to accept third-party cookies or cross-site tracking. Common errors when these are not enabled:
- Course Syllabus: Error: Could not verify ID token: State not found.
- Zoom: Redirect to Zoom... Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser.
- Videos (Panopto): We were unable to sign you in because your browser is not accepting cookies.

Here's a guide on how to enable third-party cookies or cross-site tracking in your browser:
Enable Third Party Cookies in Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- From the top right, click the More icon (three vertical dots)and select the Settings option.
- On the left side navigation, click the Privacy and security link.
- Click the Third-party cookies option.
- To enable third party cookies, select either the Allow third-party cookies optionor the Block third-party cookies in Incognito mode option.

Enable Third Party Cookies in Firefox
- Open Firefoxbrowser.
- From the top right, click the three vertical lines and then select the Settings link.
- From the left side navigation bar, click the Privacy & Security link.
- Under Browser Privacy, select the Standard option.

Enable Third Party Cookies in Safari
- Open your Safari browser.
- From the top navigation menu, click the Safari linkandthen select the Settings link.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- Make sure the Prevent cross-site tracking checkbox is unchecked.
- Click the Advanced taband make sure the Block all cookies checkbox is unchecked.

Enable Third Party Cookies in Edge
- Open your Edge browser.
- From the top right, click the Menu icon (three dots) on the tool bar and select the Settings option.
- Under Advanced Settings, click View Advanced Settings.
- Under Cookies, select Don't block cookies.
Note: Safari may continue restricting some third-party cookies and embedded authentication flows even when “Prevent cross-site tracking” is disabled, particularly in Private Browsing mode or with certain privacy extensions enabled.
If problems persist, use an alternate browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, which are generally more compatible with Canvas integrations using third-party authentication.

Apple iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps → Safari.
- (Older iOS versions may list Safari directly.)
- Under Privacy & Security:
- Turn OFF Prevent Cross-Site Tracking
- If visible, ensure:
- Block All Cookies is OFF
- Reopen Safari and refresh the website.
Note: On iPhones and iPads, all browsers (including Chrome and Firefox) use Apple’s Safari/WebKit engine underneath, so the same third-party cookie restrictions may still apply even when using another browser app.
Android Mobile Device (Google Chrome)
- Open Chrome on your Android device.
- Tap the three-dot menu (top right).
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Site settings.
- Tap Third-party cookies.
- (On some versions: Cookies)
- Select either:
- Allow third-party cookies
- or Block third-party cookies in Incognito
Notes:
- Chrome wording varies slightly by Android and Chrome version.
- Newer Chrome versions often use the term “Third-party cookies” instead of just “Cookies.”
- Choosing “Block third-party cookies in Incognito” allows them during normal browsing while still restricting them in private browsing mode.
