Course Design Document
UCLA Extension's course design documents help you plan a blueprint or outline for your course. You can use them to map out weekly content and activities based on your overall course goals so that you can:
- See the overall structure of your course by planning out your course elements from start to finish.
- Make sure you are presenting the right content at the right time.
- Stay on track once you start building your course.
Canvas Pages and Announcements
In Canvas, you can use Pages to present course lectures, share resources, or provide other information. UCLA Extension can provide new instructors with different types of page templates within their Canvas course, including:
- Weekly Overviews: summarize what students will learn each week
- Lessons: present lecture and other learning materials
- Additional Resources: share helpful links to books, materials, and educational videos
UCLA Extension also provides templated Canvas Announcements that can be customized for your course.
If you do not currently have these templates in your Canvas course, reach out to learningsupport@uclaextension.edu and request to have them added.
Course Quality Checklist
You can use our Course Quality Checklist template to evaluate the quality of your course. Review it before you begin developing your course, and continue to reference it as you build your course in Canvas.
