UCLA Extension provides information regarding private alternative education loans to assist students who are not eligible for federal financial aid or who require additional funding to cover educational expenses. These loans are managed by private lenders and are not part of the federal student loan program.
How to Apply
Use resources like ELMSelect to compare private loan options and choose the lender that best fits your needs.
Apply directly through the chosen lender’s website.
Once your loan is approved by the lender, they will send a certification request to the UCLA Extension Financial Aid Office to verify your enrollment and the cost of attendance.
After certification, the lender will disburse the funds to UCLA Extension to be applied to your student account.
Important Considerations
Unlike federal loans, private loans do not offer the same flexible repayment plans or loan forgiveness programs. It is recommended that students exhaust all federal aid options, if eligible, before applying for private alternative loans.
