Enrollment Instructions and Practicum Proposal
To start the Practicum enrollment process, first visit the Practicum website and download the Practicum Proposal form located at the end of the "Enrollment Instructions" section. Once completed, click on the yellow "Enroll" button next to the section you want to enroll in. Follow the steps as you would to enroll in any other course until you are prompted to upload your completed Practicum Proposal form. Uploading the form this way is how I receive it in our system. Once our team receives it, we will forward it to the instructor for review and approval. The instructor has 48 hours to review and approve Practicum Proposals. Once approved, our Program Manager will notify you that you can finish the enrollment process in your UCLA Extension Student Portal.
Choosing a Site
Since individual preferences and career goals vary, students are responsible for securing their own Practicum placement. The hours can be completed either online or in-person in a public/private high school (any grade), with an independent educational consultant, or with a non-profit/community-based organization. We recommend conducting a search of opportunities of interest and contacting schools/individuals/organizations to see if they are willing to accept intern placements. Students have also found success using Scholar Match as they are always looking for volunteers.
