The UCLA Extension Pre-MBA Studies Certificate program consists of seven required courses, including a counseling component. To learn more about each of these requirements and to understand what is covered within these courses, please visit the Curriculum section of our Pre-MBA page.
Once on the page, please scroll down to the Curriculum section and click on any of the courses to see additional course information (image below).
There will be a counseling component in which the Pre-MBA counselor will assist the student in choosing the proper MBA program. This service will be available for two quarters, and it is one of the main advantages of taking the courses as part of the certificate program as opposed to taking them individually.
Here is a list of most of what the Pre-MBA counselor covers:
- Selecting target schools
- Required application documents
- Presenting work experience/resume/cover letter
- Researching schools to write essays
- Getting feedback from schools
- Types of required writing for applications
- Recommendations
- Admissions interviewing
- Mock interviews
- Work history presentation
- Supporting documents (transcripts, questions, essays, statements of purpose, recommendations, resumes)
Students will be required to submit a recommendation letter and a copy of their transcripts. We would prefer that your letter of recommendation be written by a former instructor of yours, highlighting your academic achievements and willingness to learn as a student.
