At UCLA Extension, we welcome international students and provide comprehensive support for your academic journey. To study with us as an international student on an F-1 visa, there are specific admission requirements you will need to meet.
Key requirements include:
-
English Language Proficiency
You must demonstrate English proficiency through an accepted test (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test), unless you qualify for an exemption based on your country of education. -
Academic Transcripts and GPA
Submit official academic transcripts (with English translations) from your high school or university, along with proof of your GPA. -
Financial Support
You and/or your sponsor must provide financial documentation showing sufficient funds to cover both educational and living expenses for the duration of your program. -
Application Process and I-20
Once your application is approved and your initial deposit is received, you will receive instructions to complete the I-20 application, which is required to obtain your F-1 student visa. -
Maintaining F-1 Status
To remain in good standing, you must maintain full-time enrollment (a minimum of 12 units per quarter, with only one online course counting toward this minimum) and comply with all F-1 visa regulations.
For detailed information on the application process, required documents, English language proficiency scores, and maintaining your F-1 visa status, please visit our International Students pages, starting with International Students.
