Changing Your Certificate Program
If you have already been admitted to a program but want to switch to a different one, you must ensure that your SEVIS record and Form I-20 are updated to reflect your new program.
To transfer programs, please follow the steps below:
Before making any changes, contact the International Student Services (ISS) office at iss@uclaextension.edu. An advisor will review your current status and confirm if you are eligible under F-1 regulations.
You must establish candidacy for the program you want to switch to. Browse the eligible certificate programs for international students.
Once admitted into the new program, complete the International Student Services Request Form. This notifies the ISS office to update your SEVIS record.
After the change is processed, the ISS office will issue a new Form I-20 showing your updated program of study and new completion dates. You must sign and keep this document for your records.
Program changes should be requested and processed before beginning the new program in a new quarter. You must remain enrolled full-time in your current program until the transfer to the new program is officially approved to maintain your visa status.
Failure to update your I-20 when changing programs is a violation of F-1 visa regulations and may result in the termination of your SEVIS record.
