Course Expectations and Academic Standards
UCLA Extension offers online courses in asynchronous (24/7 accessible coursework with regular instructor interaction), Live-Online (scheduled synchronous virtual sessions), and hybrid formats. Online students are held to the same academic rigor, grading standards, and student conduct policies as in-person learners.
Course Access: Canvas course access opens two days before to the official course start date and continues for up to 30 days after the final class date, with full access provided for two weeks following course completion.
Scholarship Standards: Certificate students must maintain the required minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) for their program and must select the letter grade option for all required coursework.
Academic Integrity: All coursework, online discussions, and proctored examinations must comply with UCLA Extension policies on student rights and responsibilities.
Steps to Prepare for Online Learning
Ensure you have reliable connection to the internet.
Log In to Canvas two days before the start of your class to review the syllabus, schedule, and instructor announcements.
Purchase required textbooks and digital readers through the UCLA Store Course Materials link available inside Canvas or via the UCLA Store website.
Complete assignments, participate in discussion boards, and attend any scheduled live-online class sessions according to syllabus deadlines.
