It is recommended that students follow the course sequence outlined below if they would like to complete the Certificate program within one year. Please note that students may adjust the sequence as needed to accommodate their schedules.
Below is the proposed order in which to take UCLA Extension’s Screenwriting: Film and TV Comprehensive Certificate courses if you are aiming to complete the program in one year. Otherwise, you are welcome to make adjustments to fit your schedule and needs as long as all courses are completed within a 5-year timeline. Please make sure to take any courses that are a part of a series (TV I-IV or Feature Film I-IV) consecutively.
Note: students who work full-time usually take 1-2 classes per quarter. Please allow 10 hours or worktime a week per class.
Before you proceed:
Decide now between One Hour TV (drama) or Half-Hour TV (comedy) and plan to complete that full TV sequence only. Only one TV sequence is required, not both.*
