Below is a suggested course sequence. Please note that courses with numerals (e.g., I, II, III, IV) are designed to build upon one another and must be taken in sequential order.
Although it is not required to commit to a certificate in order to take courses, please feel free to follow the order below to complete our Feature Film Writing Certificate. Prospective students can enroll in courses first and retroactively have courses count towards the certificate. All certificate-eligible courses must be completed within 5 years and passed with a grade letter or C or better.
Before you proceed:
Choose between the One Hour TV (drama) or Half-Hour TV (comedy) tracks and plan to complete that full TV sequence only. Only one TV sequence is required to fulfill certificate requirements but courses from the alternate TV Writing track may still be applied towards elective units, if desired.
1st Quarter
- SCRIPT X 421.3 One-Hour or Half-Hour TV I
2nd Quarter
- SCRIPT X 421.4 One-Hour or Half-Hour TV II
3rd Quarter
4th Quarter
*NOTE: any eligible courses will have SCRIPT X in the number/title, be from the screenwriting category, and have units attached. The total amount of elective units you need is 6, so you can break this down and do three, 2-unit courses too.
