Transfer Between UCLA Extension Courses

Transfer requests must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the final transfer date for the quarter. To find the deadline for your term, review the Academic Term Calendar.

Once the transfer deadline has passed, you can no longer transfer to another course.

Please keep the following policies in mind:

  • Transfers between academic quarters are not permitted.
  • No administrative fee is charged for transferring from one course to another.
  • Exceptions: If the final refund date has passed, requests for an exception are considered only under the most unusual circumstances. Requests must be submitted within 90 days of the course end date and include a letter explaining your circumstances and appropriate supporting documentation. Email your request to refundexceptions@uclaextension.edu.

How to Transfer a Course as a Self-Paying Student

Most self-paying students can submit a transfer request directly through the Student Portal.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Student Portal.
  2. Select My Enrollment History.
  3. Find the course you want to transfer out of and select Request Transfer.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your new course and submit your request.

When to Email Your Transfer Request

In some situations, you must submit your transfer request by email rather than through the Student Portal. This helps ensure your transfer is processed correctly.

Email the Enrollment Office at enroll@uclaextension.edu if any of the following apply:

  • Third-party payment: A third party, such as WIOA, Veterans benefits, or your employer, paid for your original enrollment.
  • Discount applied: You used a discount when enrolling in your original course.
  • Waitlisted course invitation: You want to transfer into a waitlisted course after receiving an invitation to enroll.

International Students on an F-1 Visa

International students on an F-1 visa may submit course transfer requests through the Student Portal by following the steps above. However, you must continue to meet the in-person unit requirements established by the U.S. federal government.
