Journalism Certificate: Certificate Planning and Course Sequencing

Courses in this certificate can be taken in any order; below is an example of a course sequence.

Although committing to the certificate is not required before taking courses, you are welcome to follow the recommended sequence below to complete the Journalism Certificate. Students may enroll in eligible courses first and apply those courses toward the certificate retroactively.
 

Please note that all certificate requirements must be completed within five years. To count toward the certificate, each course must be certificate-eligible and completed with a letter grade of C or better.

1st Quarter

• JOURN X 440.2 The Practice of Journalism

2nd Quarter

• JOURN X 440.3 The Modern Media World
• JOURN X 462 Media Law and Ethics

3rd Quarter

• JOURN X 428 Reporting and Media Production in the Age of AI
• JOURN X 439 The Art of the Interview

Not all courses will be available each term so please ensure courses are available and times do not conflict when enrolling.
