You can drop a course yourself before the drop deadline. You can find this deadline on our academic term calendar here: academic term calendar.
Dropping a course before the deadline for self-paying students: You can request to drop a course through the student portal. Please follow these steps:
- Log in to the UCLA Extension Student Portal
- From the menu, select My Enrollment History
- Find the course you want to drop and click Request drop
- Follow the prompts to complete your request
Refunds will be processed automatically, minus a $30 administrative fee* for each dropped course where a refund applies. The fee is $50 for concurrent enrollments. Please allow 3-6 business days for credit card refunds and up to 10 business days for refunds by check. Cash refunds are not available.
Dropping a course before the deadline for students with third-party payment: If a third party, such as an employer or sponsor, paid for your enrollment, please email your drop request to cashiers@uclaextension.edu.
Dropping a course after the deadline: You cannot drop a course for a refund after the deadline. However, you may choose to discontinue the course without a refund before taking the final exam and before a final grade is assigned. Students who have taken, accessed, or submitted a final exam, paper, or project cannot withdraw from the class. Learn more about the withdrawal process.
* Additional fees may apply as noted in course listings. These are usually found in the Details and Notes section of the course and may include earlier drop deadlines and higher withheld amounts.
Courses Cancelled by UCLA Extension
UCLA Extension may cancel, reschedule, or combine courses on or before the first scheduled class if enrollment is below the required number. If your course is canceled, discontinued, or rescheduled before the first class, or if the instructor does not accept your application for a restricted course, please contact refunds@uclaextension.edu to arrange your refund.
