Joining a Course Past the Deadline

UCLA Extension does not accept new enrollments after the add, drop, and transfer deadlines specified on the Academic Term Calendar. These deadlines are established to ensure that all students have sufficient time to engage with course materials and meet academic requirements.

Waitlist Status After Deadlines

If you are on a waitlist and have not received an official invitation to enroll by the passing of the add/drop/transfer deadline, the course has reached its maximum capacity. At this stage, the enrollment period for that section is closed, and no further invitations will be issued.

Next Steps for Enrollment

Learners who were unable to secure a seat in a full course are encouraged to plan for future terms. Enrollment for upcoming quarters begins regularly throughout the academic year. To prepare for the next quarter, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the enrollment opening dates for the upcoming term by reviewing the Academic Term Calendar.

  2. Locate future course offerings and sections using the course search tool.

  3. Enroll as early as possible once the registration period opens to secure your seat before a waitlist forms.
