Horticulture Certificate: Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for courses in the Horticulture certificate program, and horticulture certificate courses can be taken in any order. However, students who are new to horticulture or gardening are advised not to begin with Introduction to Irrigation Practices (BIOLOGY X 499.97), as a basic understanding of plant life and irrigation needs is recommended before taking this course. Students without this background are encouraged to complete Soils and Plant Nutrition (BIOLGY X 493.2) and Plant Material for Landscape Use (BIOLGY X 499) before enrolling in Introduction to Irrigation Practices.
Please note, the certificate curriculum is designed to serve students in Southern California and the Pacific Time Zone (PT). The course curriculum focuses on horticulture practices and plants common to Southern California.
